Clean up the Home
Collect packing supplies about a month or so before you have to move
Use items up that aren’t as easily moved such as aerosol cleaners, bleach, and especially perishable foods!
Dispose of all poisons, corrosives, and flammables
Drain all oil and gas from all motored tools and vehicles such as mowers and weed whackers. Also, be sure to drain anything else that uses hazardous or flammable materials such as gas grills.
Empty, clean, and defrost your fridge 1-2 days before moving day
As the moving date draws closers, finish up all packing and be sure to have a box packed with all of the essentials. This will keep these items handy and allow for easy access. Make sure to include toiletries, snacks, and spare clothing. Some other things to consider to bring:
Paper plates and towels, plastic silverware and disposable cups
Dish washing soap, trash bags, dish towels
Useful tools such as scissors, tape, utility knife, flashlights, hammer, and a can opener
Spare batteries, charging cords and electronics
Prescriptions and medicine such as aspirin and tylenol
Something to entertain the children, if you have any
Organization is key in making the process of relocating to a new home in North Pole or Fairbanks as stress-free and painless as possible. It’s very easy to get overwhelmed and swamped by the whole relocation process, so staying organized from the beginning of the moving process is important. Keep all legal documents in an organized file, sort rooms by boxes, and properly label boxes and bags with their contents and in what room they should land.

Keep an Eye on Your Budget
There are many expenses tied to moving, so make sure that you have planned your budget accordingly. Remember to include some wiggle room for emergencies as well!
Tie Up Any Loose Ends You Have
Remember to cancel or transfer any of the services you have in your current community. There are many here so start thinking a few months ahead of time so you have ample time to sort everything out.
Update Mailing Address
When you receive your new address, be sure to file a change of address. Contact your friends, family members, and businesses that you are tied to with information regarding your change of address as soon as possible.
Make a Reservation For a Moving Truck
Do this a few weeks ahead of time to ensure that you have an adequately sized moving truck available when you need it!
And this is going to be an exciting Adventure! There is much to do but don't forget to be excited about what comes next~!
